I am the way, the truth, and the life. 

No one comes to the Father except through Me.

knowing about Jesus and knowing Jesus for yourself are two totally different realities.  For example, you can know a lot about a famous person, the president, an actor, a business leader, yet never get to meet that person for yourself and experience what it's like to be in their presence.  God sent Jesus, not so that we can know more about Himself, but that we can know God personally through Jesus Christ.

Jesus himself said, "He who has seen Me has seen the Father."

(John 14:9)  When we meet Jesus, we meet God.  In fact, there is no other way to meet God except through Jesus.  "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:1)

So if Jesus is the way to God, then how can we get to know Jesus personally, not just know about Him?  After Jesus died on the cross for our sins, he was risen by God three days later and then spent time with his disciples and was seen by over 500 people before returning to Heaven.  Before his departure from this earth, Jesus promised his disciples that he would not leave them as orphans, but that He would send his Spirit, the Holy Spirit, to not only live with them, but to dwell within them. 

Eventhough the life of Jesus on earth took place over 2000 years ago, you can experience Him and know Him personally today because of the Holy Spirit who is working upon the earth to draw people to God.  Everyone who puts their faith in Jesus as their Savior (the one who died for their sins) and Lord (the one who leads our life) is promised to receive the gift of salvation as well as the Holy Spirit.

If not, don't delay!  The Bible says that today is the day of salvation! 

Jesus, I turn from my sins and turn to You.  I believe You died for my sins and I ask for your forgiveness now.  Cover my sins with your blood.  Fill me with the Holy Spirit and give me new life.  Give me a thirst to know You better and an understanding of Your Word, the Bible.  Help me to find other believers in You who will help me to grow in my faith.  Empower me to share what You've done in my life with others in need.  Amen.
